At Columbus Tustin Middle School in Tustin, California, maintaining the integrity and appearance of the campus is a key part of creating a welcoming and lasting learning environment. The school’s exterior walls, made of split-faced block, were in need of protection from the elements, and Blok-Lok Water Repellent proved to be the right choice. Contractor McMillin Painting Inc. stepped in to complete the job, applying Blok-Lok to safeguard the school’s exterior from moisture damage and wear.

Split-faced block is a common and durable building material, but it’s also highly porous, which makes it vulnerable to water intrusion, staining, and the buildup of efflorescence. For a school campus, untreated masonry can quickly lead to long-term damage. That’s why Columbus Tustin Middle School opted to seal and protect its surfaces with Blok-Lok, a high-performance silane/siloxane water repellent designed for masonry, wood, and concrete surfaces.

Blok-Lok forms a clear, natural-looking, breathable finish that repels water while still allowing moisture vapor to escape, preventing the kind of trapped water that can lead to cracking and structural issues. It also protects against efflorescence, mold and mildew growth, freeze/thaw damage, and it is UV resistant. Now, thanks to Blok-Lok and McMillin Painting Inc., Columbus Tustin Middle School has a cleaner, longer-lasting exterior that’s ready to withstand the elements for years to come.
