The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation has built 19 train stations around Honolulu and their newest station in Niuhelewai, HI needed a solution to help keep the concrete walkways at the station protected. The walkways are subjected to large amounts of foot traffic, and wind caused by trains coming into and leaving the station, leaving behind a lot of dirt and grime.
H.A.R.T. used RainguardPro’s Micro-Seal, a penetrating silane siloxane sealer that absorbs into the surface and dries clear with no visible change to the texture or color of the concrete. This was important because, with the heavy amount of foot traffic, they didn’t want a sealer that would make the surface more slippery like a film forming sealer would do. Since Micro-Seal prevents absorption of moisture (while remaining vapor permeable), dirt and grime from the trains are unable to get into the surface and remains on top, which makes cleaning and upkeep of the walkways easier.
Micro-Seal is our number one water repellent and is eligible for a warranty of up to 10 years. It is UV stable and will never yellow, even in direct sunlight. The water-based formula has zero VOCs, with very low odor, and is the eco-friendly option that is safe for the applicator, end user, and environment.
